Friendship Day Special Trek to "Kothaligad" (Fort of Peth) on 03rd August, 2014 (Sunday)


Hello Friends,

We, The youth Hikers invite you for one day Monsoon Trail to Kothaligad on 03rd August 2014 (Sunday).


Little Info About The Fort

Type : Hill forts
Fort Range : Karjat
District : Raigad
Grade : Medium for Freshers / Easy for Regular Trekkers
Height : 3100 ft.



Kothaligad (also called Kotligad or Kothligad) is a small Fort (3100 ft) is situated to the east of Karjat near. It is one of the famous treks in the Karjat area, because of its small height and easy climbing. It is also known as the Fort of Peth because of its vicinity to Peth village at its base.
There is a small temple and large cave at the base and a chimney like tunnel (see image) to the top of the fort. This pinnacle is carved from inside forming a staircase reaching the top.
There is a tank of water at some distance from the cave and another one at the top of the fort. This tunnel is the high point of the trek, with its funnel like structure and steps along the inside in a steep ascent to the very top

Four–Five potholes and some cannon balls are scattered in the fort.

Kalwawantinicha Mahal, Bhimashankar Range, Nagfani, Siddhagad, Malanggad, Chanderi, Prabalgad, Manikgad, Vikatgad, Nakhind, Tavli, Mhasmai, Bhivpuri Hills and Matheran all these surrounding historical places are visible from top of the fort Peth.

The tentative itinerary for the Trek is as given below:
Meeting Point for Mumbai People:
We will be starting with the second karjat local (time table given below)
People may board the same Karjat train from the station of their convenience and meet us in the train directly. (Get into second boggy from CST side)
Meeting point For Pune people: Karjat Station at 8.05am at west side ticket counter.

After breakfast at Karjat we will proceed to the base village Ambivali by bus/tum-tum.
Start the trek by 10.00am.
Reach pethechiwadi in next an hour.
Spend some time on platue; continue the trek.
Reach the top in next one and half hr.
Lunch, Fort exploration and Start descending.
Reach base village in one and half hours.
Evening refreshments.
Reach back to Karjat by 6.00 pm.
We will be returning to Mumbai by 8-9 pm tentatively.

Everybody will board the same local and we meet in the train itself.

Pune People are requested to catch 06.50 am Sahyadri Experss from Pune(09.50 am at Karjat).

White Water Rafting is one of the best adventures one can experience, without prior experience.
River Rafting on Kundalika started a few years ago and ‘Kola’d is now only rafting facility in India to be operational all-round the year. White Water Rafting in Kundalika Kolad is controlled by the release of the Dam on the “Kundalika River”.


The itinerary for the event is as follow:
Meeting Point: Pritam Hotel, Dadar (E)
Pick up Points: Chembur, Vashi.

05:00 Hrs Departs towards Kolad from Dadar (Breakfast in the bus)
08:00 Hrs Arrive at the rafting start point.
Briefing for Rafting on arrival at the start point
09:00 Hrs Rafting begins
13:30 Hrs Break for Lunch (At Pooja Farms)
15:00 Hrs Kayaking, River crossing & Zipline (on your own)

NOTES:
Pregnant ladies, heart patients and people with severe asthma are not allowed to raft.
It is up to the individual to arrange their own holiday / accident insurance & each adult would be asked to sign a liability

The charges for the event are INR 2400/- per head, which includes travelling from Dadar to Dadar by non ac Vehicle, breakfast, Lunch (Veg / non-Veg /Jain - Buffet style), Equipment and expertise charges.

Waterfall Rappelling Also technically known as canyoning and canyoneering are more often associated with technical descents those that require rappels (abseils) and rope work, down-climbing. An adventure sport, where you walk down a cliff amidst the gushing waterfall

The Youth Hikers Waterfall Rappelling at Kondhana Caves Waterfall on 20th July 2014

Hello Friends,

We “The Youth Hikers” invite you for an adventurous journey of rappelling through the gigantic waterfall at Kondana caves.

Location: Kondana Cave waterfall
Height: Appx 90 ft
Grade: Thrilling
Maximum Participation: 50 participants

Waterfall Rappelling Also technically known as canyoning and canyoneering are more often associated with technical descents those that require rappels (abseils) and rope work, down-climbing.

Short Info: Kondhana Waterfall is situated near Kondhana Caves. Its a waterfall based on the way towards Rajmachi. Height being of 120 ft it gives a thrilling experience to the participants willing to Rappel from here.




The itinerary for the Event is as given below:

Cost: Rs.800/- Per Person (Members: Rs.750/- per Person)
Date: 20th July, 2014

Meeting point for Mumbaikars as well as Punekars:

8:00am: Assemble outside near Karjat Station.
8:30am: Breakfast and after that Introduction round.
9:15 am: Leave for Kondhana Caves by Local transport.
9:40 am: Starting with Waterfall Rappelling after a small briefing round.
4:30 pm: Leave back to Karjat and from there to your respective places.
